ADULT CONFIRMATION AND INQUIRERS CLASS BEGINS ON APRIL 25
This class is offered for any adult who wishes to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church, or who simply wants to learn more about the Christian faith and the Episcopal way. Over the course of six gatherings, we will discuss the basics of Christianity: God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the sacraments and worship. We’ll consider the importance of the Bible and the Prayer Book in our common lives, as well as discern our gifts for ministry. We’ll consider the Baptismal Covenant and how we are all called to Christian action and mission.
Everyone is welcome and questions are encouraged.
Sessions will be held for Six weeks on Sunday immediately after the 10:30 service. April 25, May 16th, May 23, June 6th, June 27th and one Saturday morning to be determined by group.
Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation: Which is right for you?
Confirmation is a mature, public affirmation of your faith, celebrated by the prayers and laying on of hands by our bishop. It is a celebration of your baptism and your desire to live out your faith in the Episcopal Church. If you were baptized as a child (in any denomination) but never did confirmation, this rite is for you.
Reception is for those who have been baptized and confirmed in a Christian denomination that has a ritual of confirmation (such as Methodists, Catholics or Lutherans) who wish to join the Episcopal Church.
Reaffirmation of Faith is for those who have been baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church, but in a church other than St. Mary’s.
All are welcome to attend any of the classes, but if you wish to be confirmed or received or to reaffirm your faith, Please contact the church office on or before April 21st. To register or ask questions about any aspect of your decision to join the Episcopal Church, contact the Rev. Amy Slater @ [email protected] or call the church office to connect with Mother Amy.
